Neve Scoops Gold in National Finals!

South Tyneside College beauty student, Neve Dunn has been awarded the top prize in the Beauty Therapist category at the World Skills finals 2023.

This was Level 3 student Neve’s first competition since joining the college last year and took first place in the two-day competition in Manchester.

Competitors were asked to showcase their skills in four separate tasks including facial, pedicure, gel nail art and a mystery make up challenge, which wasn’t revealed until the day.

Neve said,

“I'm still in shock after becoming the top level 2 therapist in the UK, it has been an amazing experience and I am so grateful for being given this opportunity.”

But she wasn’t the only South Tyneside student to be recognised. Adrienne Chastney, who studies Level 4 Beauty Therapy, was also highly commended for her performance in Beauty Therapy Practitioner category.

Following the competition, the students and staff got the chance to attend an awards ceremony to hear the results. Lecturer Lisa Roberts, who has supported both Adrienne and Neve throughout the competition and travelled with them to the finals said

“This is such an amazing achievement, I am very proud of both Neve and Adrienne and their dedication. The girls have worked so hard in preparation for each stage of the WorldskillsUK Beauty Therapy competition to achieve this outstanding result.”

Both students initially found out in the summer that they had made it through to top 8 nationally and had been busily preparing ahead of the competition this term. South Tyneside College are incredible proud of the students achievements.
