The programme will give all the learners the opportunity to experience an insight into both the hospitality and catering industries. You will learn through both practical and theory lessons within specialist industrial catering environments and our real life working restaurant at the college.

- Housekeeping and guest services
- Introduction to Kitchen Equipment
- Preparing for Work Placement

Entry Requirements top

City & Guilds do not set any entry requirements for this qualification however through a discussion with the lecturer, they will ensure that all candidates have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification.

Assessment top

The assessment within this qualification will be a combination of both portfolio building as well as practical observations within both the kitchen and front of house. This will ensure that you have the correct knowledge and that you can apply this knowledge in a practical setting.

Professional Opportunities top

Successful completion of the Level 1 Diploma in Prepraing for a Career in the Hospitality Industry will enable progression onto the Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery or Level 2 Food and Beverage Service depending on which route you enjoy the most during Level 1.
