This course is for 14-18-year-old students, with an interest in Engineering, welding, sheet metal work or hand fitting skills.

This programme covers the fundamental skills and knowledge common to all engineering practices.

This programme focuses on practical skills and knowledge, where learners will gain practical experience and understanding of welding and fabrication including MIG welding, sheet metal working and hand fitting skills.

We know that having good qualifications alone doesn't always make you stand out.

As part of the course, you will also take part in an external work placement to help you develop your confidence and skills to stand out from the crowd.

Assessment top

Unit 101 Engineering will be assessed by a multiple-choice online exam.

For units 102 (hand fitting), 108 (sheet metal) and 110 (MIG Welding) learners will produce practical test pieces which will be assessed by the lecturer. There will also be a short paper-based exam for each unit.

Professional Opportunities top

This qualification can lead to progression on to the EAL PEO Level 2 or City & Guilds Welding Skills Level 2.
