This full time qualification is delivered over one year and develops the knowledge and understanding needed when working within the health care sector. It aims to guide and assess the development of practical skills for those who wish to work in a supervised support role within the healthcare workforce. This qualification would give potential employees the knowledge required to enter the NHS and private care facilities.
The course requires completion of a work placement in the field of health and care, this will involve attending a setting two days a week. This work placement will be arranged by the work-based assessor in partnership with you.
A variety of essential areas of health and social care are studied including;
- Communication within health and social care
- Equality and diversity
- Safeguarding
- Infection control
- Personal development
- Dementia awareness.
Entry Requirements top
2 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English Language, or a full level 1 qualification in a related subject. An interview with Health and Care staff and a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
Assessment top
The course is assessed by lecturers and the work-based assessor using a range of methods. This would include direct observation in the workplace, professional discussion, portfolio of evidence and written assignments.
Professional Opportunities top
On successful completion of this programme learners may progress on to the CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care.
