Overview top

This is the final course for those who are training to become VTS Operators (IALA Model Course C-0103-1). It is a one-week MCA approved course which takes place onsite, normally running Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 with breaks for lunch and refreshments.

Note: This course can also be used instead of a VTS refresher course for VTS personnel who need to revalidate.

During the course candidates will make extensive use of a full mission Kongsberg VTS Simulator. Candidates are faced with a series of realistic and interactive simulation exercises designed to test individuals in all aspects of providing safe and efficient Vessel Traffic Services. The exercises gradually increase in complexity and require application of all the underpinning knowledge studied in the VTS Induction / Underpinning Knowledge course.
