Financial help with your studies
At South Tyneside College, many students do not have to pay for their course tuition fees; they are paid by the Government or the College on your behalf. Some students are also eligible for extra help with costs such as childcare, books, travel, trips and equipment.
These pages give you more information about whether you are eligible for help with your fees. It also tells you about the help which is available towards study costs. This applies to UK/EU students only. If you are an Overseas student, you will normally have to pay for your course fees.
Whether you're 16-18 or 19+, you may be eligible to receive a bursary. Check our guidance documents below.
We have teamed up with Network One to being you up to £600 of FREE travel. The card has UNLIMITED use so you can use it to travel to college, as well as on evenings and weekends. This is for 16-18 year olds and allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Free school meals
If you received free school means while at school, then you could be entitled to the same at college.
You will be issued with a meal card to use in our refectory, The Dock, Costa and Starbucks. If you qualify, your card will be credited with £2.55 per day – you can also choose to top up your card.
