Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts – Level 3 (Year 1)

OVERVIEW

This programme is a follow on from BTEC Foundation Diploma in Performing Arts Level 3 (Year 1).

It focuses on the three main disciplines of Performing Arts, dance, drama and singing to enable learners to develop their technical and performance skills through a process of self-analysis, reflection, and review.

You will work collaboratively to manage your own projects, as well as participating in performances at local venues, including the Customs House

Learning takes place at STC and The Customs House with whom we have industry links. This enables us to access performance workshops, guest speakers and other enrichment activities in a relevant, vocational setting. It also allows learners to gain an understanding of all elements of a working theatre.

This course is practically driven, and learners are expected to take part in all disciplines as well as specialising in an area of their choice.

We work closely with local companies including, Hit The Ground Running Dance Theatre Company and we take part in regular educational visits to ensure our learners have current knowledge of all aspects of performance.

We know that having good qualifications alone doesn’t always make you stand out.

That’s why we’re all about going the extra mile with you.

Studying with us means practical, hands-on workshops, group sessions, expert guest speakers, visits to local employers, wellbeing drop-ins, chill out time … the list goes on.

As part of the course, you will also take part in an external work placement to help you develop your confidence and skills to stand out from the crowd.

First year level 3 qualification in Performing Arts

Units are assessed throughout the course, both internally and externally moderated.

Learners can progress onto HE or employment.
