City and Guilds Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation 8202 Level 2
OVERVIEW
This qualification is for candidates who want to work as electricians in the building services engineering sector.
The course has been designed for candidates wanting a viable entry route into the electrical industry. This qualification provides an understanding of electrical principles including AC theory, single phase and three phase power systems, all to the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations. It also covers Health and Safety in Building Services, Electrical Installation Technology, Installation of Wiring Systems and Enclosures and Communication with other Building Services.
The course also allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electrotechnology sector.

16-19 year old learners require GCSE grade 4 (C) in maths and a minimum grade 3 (D) in English.
Adult learners will discuss entry requirements at interview
Assessment is by a combination of workshop practical and classroom-based theory, with additional online based assessment. Within these assessments it also includes elements of health and safety.
Successful completion of the C&G 8202 Level 2 Technical Certificate in Electrical Installation will allow progression to the C&G 8202 Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation. Alternatively, learners could also progress onto an electrical apprenticeship.
This course allows candidates to progress into employment, although not as a fully qualified electrician.
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
