Certificate in Barbering Level 1 (16-18)

OVERVIEW

The Level 1 NVQ Certificate in Barbering is designed for learners who are new to the industry and have little or no experience of hairdressing and barbering. The qualification provides the necessary skills and knowledge that prove occupational competence as a hairdressing or barbering assistant.

  • Unit 101: prepare hair services and maintain work areas
  • Unit 102: Contribute to the development of effective working relationships
  • Unit 104: Shampoo and condition hair
  • Unit 106: Assist with salon reception duties
  • Unit 218: Assist with shaving services

No formal entry requirements

The assessments for the qualification require the candidates to undertake:

  • Practical tasks which will be observed
  •  Knowledge and understanding Exam papers

On completion of the course, you can progress on to our Level 2 barbering or Level 2 Hairdressing courses.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.

Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.

All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
