Adult English Functional Skills (Evening Course) 19+

OVERVIEW

This qualification leads to further development in flexible functional skills in English and Maths, where you will learn valuable skills for work and life which are needed now more than ever.

Whether you choose English, Maths or both, you can fast track your way towards a Level 2 qualification in these core subjects. Following face-to-face contact time with a subject specialist, you will have regular opportunities to sit the exams when you are ready. Until then, you can expect tailored support in an inclusive environment to develop your core skills.

Resources will also be available on a virtual learning environment which you will be able to access from home for learning opportunities to suit your lifestyle.

The course will run on Thursday evenings from 17.30pm – 20.30pm. 

English Functional Skills will be delivered with a range of resources and scenarios from a variety of industries and sectors to prepare you for employment.

This course will develop your reading, writing and speaking and listening skills at a level appropriate to your needs based on your initial assessments. You will have tailored programme that will be tracked to show your progress.

Our Functional Skills qualifications are intended for anyone wishing to develop their maths and English. They focus on both the underpinning skills as well as the ability to apply maths and English to different contexts. The level of functional skills you complete with us, will be based on an initial assessment completed at enrolment.

This course is only available for 19+ learners ONLY (you must be 19 at the start of the academic year) i.e. 31st August. 

As this course is for 19+ learners, please note that 16-18’s must be studying a full-time programme in order to access maths and English.

Functional Skills qualifications are intended to support you develop your literacy and numeracy skills that are practical for employment.

Achieving these qualifications should increase confidence and motivation, and the skills you gain will be valuable in the workplace or in any further learning.

Gaining a Level 2 functional skills is an equivalent to a GCSE grade 4/C and can support entry to higher level courses and employment.

You will progress through this programme in class and will complete it within 17 weeks from your start date.

You can also access online resources and work through any additional revision and practice resources in your own time.

Courses are delivered on an evening and daytime option.
