City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Systems Maintenance
Overview
Candidates will complete the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Systems Maintenance.
Candidates will develop the basic skills and knowledge of vehicle systems needed to move onto the Level 3 course or apply for an automotive apprenticeship or similar engineering pathway. The qualification covers a variety of automotive related areas. The course is split 50/50 over both classroom-based theory lessons and workshop based practical activities.
The Diploma is made up of 6 units including: health & safety, vehicle engine principles, fuel air and exhaust systems, vehicle electrical systems, transmission systems, chassis systems and servicing.
There is a minimum requirement of a grade 4 in Maths and English for entry onto the Level 2 course, alternately successful completion of level 1 at a good level of ability and attendance.
The course is Portfolio based and is assessed by observation of practical tasks carried to a satisfactory standard and by unit-based knowledge questions at the end of each unit.
Once the Level 2 Diploma course has been fully completed the candidate can move onto the Level 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Diagnostic & Repair Principles, or an apprenticeship if in full time employment.

1 Year, Full Time.

For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.
Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.
All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
