EAL Diploma PEO Welding Engineering Level 2
OVERVIEW
The manufacturing and engineering sector is growing both locally and nationally, and is a government priority area.
There is currently a skills gap in the market for welders.
Salaries for qualified skilled workers can range from £20-£30K depending on the industry role, rising to £60K for experienced offshore work.
This programme covers the fundamental skills and knowledge common to all engineering practices, but is particularly geared towards developing skills to work towards a career as a welder.
This programme enables learners to acquire engineering competencies in a realistic working environment. This will then enable a safe progression into the workplace / employment.
This programme focuses on practical skills and knowledge, where learners will gain practical experience and understanding of welding disciplines including MIG welding and MMA welding plus general hand-fitting.
We know that having good qualifications alone doesn’t always make you stand out.
That’s why we’re all about going the extra mile with you.
Studying with us means practical, hands-on workshops, group sessions, expert guest speakers, visits to local employers, wellbeing drop-ins, chill out time … the list goes on.
As part of the course, you will also take part in an external work placement to help you develop your confidence and skills to stand out from the crowd.
Three GCSEs at grade 3 or above including English and maths. You should have an interest in learning new skills, and a positive approach to learning.
If you are an adult learner with relevant work experience, but do not have the GCSE requirements, we can arrange a meeting with the course leader to discuss your circumstances.
Learners will produce practical test pieces which will be assessed against national standards. Learners will also complete a workbook for each unit which includes a range of questions to demonstrate their knowledge based competence.
This qualification forms a major component of SEMTA’s Engineering Apprenticeship Framework and allows progression onto a variety of other level 2 and level 3 technical qualifications.
The course also facilitates progression to employment, or an apprenticeship.
For students aged 16-18 who have not yet achieved a grade 4 in Maths or English, these subjects will be included in your timetable along with your main course. Improving your skills in Maths and English is essential, as these qualifications open doors to further study and career opportunities.
Our teaching team will work with you to help you achieve the grades you need, building confidence in these key areas to support your future success.
All 16-18 students must study maths and/or English as part of their main study programme, there is no option to study maths and/or English on its own.
