Have you ever wanted to be a journalist? Have you ever wanted to Design create magazines or websites? Then this course can be the beginning of your journey into your chosen career.

Our Level 3 courses in Creative Digital Media Production have been designed to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to progress to degree level or into employment within the media sector. It provides those with an interest in particular media specialism to explore, develop and test their creativity while working towards a qualification which is stimulating and also demanding.

While studying on our Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production (Journalism and Interactive Publishing) students will have the opportunity to develop their skills working on Journalism and publishing based units. You will learn what it takes to be a journalist and create a range of different media products, while working with industry standard software and equipment to prepare you for working in the industry straight away.

Alongside studying specialist units you will study theoretical units which explore media audiences and representations to give you a knowledge of the theories that underpin creative media production. The units you will study over the year are:

Unit 1 – Media Representations

Unit 4 – Pre-Production Portfolio (Journalism and Interactive Publishing)

Unit 6 – Media Campaigns

Unit 8 – Responding to a Commission

Unit 17 – News Production

Unit 12 – Website Production

This course duration is one year and it is the equivalent of 1.5 A-levels. Upon completion students have the option to increase the size of the qualification by continuing on and studying our level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative digital Media Production (Journalism and Interactive Publishing).

Entry Requirements top

A minimum of four GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above, including English Language. Alternatively a full Level 2 media qualification in Media or related area would also be suitable

Assessment top

The course is broken down into a number of units that are assessed through both practical and theory based assignments set by the course tutors. The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production is also assessed through two externally assessed units set by the awarding body.

Professional Opportunities top

Learners who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to progress onto the second year of the course to achieve an Extended Diploma in Creative Digital Media Production (Journalism and Interactive Publishing). Some Learners may also progress into employment in the media sector via apprenticeships.
