This is a 9 week package for students following MNTB FD / SPDA route to Chief Mate Certification holding an MCA OOW certificate of competency including all elements currently required for Chief Mate’s certification. Students must have at least 12 months watch-keeping sea time while holding Deck OOW Certificate of Competence.

For MCA Chief Mate STCW (as amended) all II/2 candidates require:

Medical Care Aboard Ship

Syllabus as per MNTB guidelines dated August 2002 relating to STCW Regulation VI/4 paragraph 2 and STCW code section A-V1/4-2.
week 2-7

Refreshing of Professional Knowledge

MCA Orals Preparation classes

NAEST (M) Theory

Classroom based lectures providing up to date information on Navigation, Stability, Meteorology, Cargo Ops and Law and Management designed to make the candidate aware of any changes in the industry since their last period of study.
Week 8

HELM Management

This is a class room based mandatory course required for all candidates for management level certificate of competency as per STCW.
Week 9

NAEST (M) Simulator

Based in our state of the art six simulated navigational bridges. Two full mission bridge simulators both with 360° field of view and four bridge navigation simulation suite and a 120° visual field of view using 50” plasma screens.

MCA Orals examination (£201) *All candidates will need to apply for a Notice of Eligibility, the above mentioned payment of £201 should be sent and dealt directly with the MCA.
