This level 4 qualification aims to provide professional development opportunities for practitioners working in the early years workforce at level 3. This qualification will embrace the wealth of experience of the level 3 early years workforce and challenge you in both your daily practice and theoretical understanding. You will acquire and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as you complete the qualification through work-based learning opportunities.
You will study the following units:
- Enabling children to lean
- Promoting health and well-being through physical activity and nutrition co-ordination
- Working with parents to support children with additional needs
- Working with families and other professionals in early years settings
- Implementing change in an early years setting, incorporating a small piece of research
All applicants will be interviewed before being offered a place on the course and learners must be at least 19 years of age. We welcome applications who hold an appropriate childcare qualification at level 3 along with GCSEs grade C or above, which must include maths and English. Applicants must be employed in an early years setting at level 3 to complete the qualification.
You will be assessed using a variety of methods including: presentations, written assessments, reports and a small piece of research and reflective accounts along with work which is undertaken within your work practice.
At the end of the study period the student will have a valuable qualification in its own right as well as having knowledge and experience which will allow students to gain new opportunities in education and care of young people. Students can continue and progress onto qualifications such as the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services. You can progress onto the following job roles such as SENCo, PANCo, leadership and management, mentoring and management opportunities.
